This year I plan on making sure that any app I work on is available on at least three Apple platforms. To that end, I have updated my Greet Keeper application, which tracks greeting cards, to run via SwiftUI on VisionOS. I know it doesn’t yet really take advantage of Spatial computing, but I wanted […]

Open Sourcing Greeting Keeper
While my post about Greeting Keeper being available had somehow got stuck in draft, I am posting a second blog entry to talk about the challenges that the app has had and what I am trying to do about it. First, shortly after releasing the app, and buying the first copy myself, I put out […]
Greeting Keeper Released
Well, after writing, rewriting, refactoring, and replatforming for six year, I have finally released a personal project to the App Store. Greeting Keeper has gone thru UIKit, SwiftUI, CoreData, CloudKit, and SwiftData to become a pretty useful app. It does, however, have two major bugs, that crept in during the release, and I am trying […]

Converting Videos
Over the years, I have converted almost my entire music library to digital (from LPs, 45RPMs, CDs, cassette tapes, and even a few Reel-to-Reel tapes). I have also taken my entire DVD and Blu-ray library and created local backup copies to make it easier to binge watch some of my favorite old movies and TV […]
API’s and Open Development
I rarely write posts about my day job on this blog, the focus of this blog is to address my hobbies and passions. When those intersect with my day job I will try and post a few thoughts. Having said that, I recently took a new job focusing on improving the API strategy of IBM’s […]
The new toys!
I try to upgrade my iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPads every other year (it get’s really expensive otherwise). This year is an off year, as I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year. I am not going to second guess people who upgrade every year. I think if you can afford it and […]
