WWDC Day Two (early morning)

(7am Tuesday) There are a few things I forgot to mention yesterday:

  • TestFlight updates: I use TestFlight to both test apps from others, and to test apps that I’ve written. The cool update is now you can have test flight ask for feedback. The way that this is supposed to work is, if the user does a screenshot while in your app, that is being distributed via TestFlight, it will prompt the user if they would like to provide feedback. Given the challenges I am having with the UI of my current Holiday Card Tracker app, I am looking forward to getting feedback from my testers this way.
  • Login with Apple: I am really excited by this one. While wasted time doesn’t require a login, except it uses Twitter to tweet out, the great feature for other sites and apps is that if they offer login with Facebook or login with Google, they will be required to offer login with Apple. Apple will NOT provide your information to the site, and if they require an email address, you can have Apple create a dummy address which will be automatically forwarded to your appropriate email address. This will provide two services, one it will reduce their ability to augment your profile based on buying data from other services, and two it will allow you to disable their email feeds. I am wondering if this service will show you “where” the emails are coming from, so you can see how they are selling your data.

A quick update on my MacBook Pro saga: The hotel wifi stopped me from doing the complete machine rebuild last night, so I came in early to the convention center and have been rebuilding the machine with macOS Sierra. Assuming this works for me, I will then update it to macOS Catalina. I guess the Robot graphic is appropriate, for yesterday – as it blew up my tech.

8:18 update

Well, the rebuild got the reboot and then I got the dreaded NO screen. Came inside and am now on an Ethernet cable. Trying a new rebuild from the internet. Will then go to the “installer” lab to see if I can get any help. Is m worried that since I tried to “fix it” my machine will be unhelpable. Unless they can just plug in a cable and “build” the machine to factory reset. *sigh*
